Surprise trip to NYC

A few weeks ago, before Jace left, my parents came to me and told me they were planning a trip to New York. They told me they wanted to do something fun that would distract me during the first few days of Jace's absence. Well, despite the circumstances... Best. Surprise. EVER.

So, two days after I watched my fiancé head off to bootcamp, my parents and I hopped on a plane to NYC!!! I am so thankful to have such loving, supporting, and thoughtful parents. They are those things without the trip, NY was just a bonus blessing!

I haven't traveled many places so far in my life, but for as long as I can remember New York and Paris have been my dream destinations (I guess Jace will just have to take me to Paris now, wink wink). The trip was so much fun, we saw as much of NY as a person could possibly see in 4 days... (not complaining... BUT I better have some toned legs after all that walking).

The few times I have traveled, I've found that the most interesting thing to me is imagining what life looks like to live there. Possibly my favorite part of seeing NY was riding the subways. It's so different than the way I live, where we drive cars everywhere we go. But from the second the Uber dropped us off at our hotel to the second the Uber picked us up on our last day, we didn't step foot in a car. Everywhere we went we either walked or rode the subway. I don't know if I could ever permanently live like that.. but having never rode on the subway before, I found it so interesting. And it was the way everyone in NY traveled. Every morning when we got to the stations there were just crowds of people - most of which in their business clothes heading to or from work.

Here's a list of some of my favorite things we did in NY:

-Mean Girls on Broadway (DUH, but I'm convinced any play on Broadway is amazing)

-Horse carriage ride through Central Park

-Shopping in SOHO

-The Metropolitan Museum (top floor is a roof garden with an amazing view, just fyi)

-Rockefeller Center

-Street hotdogs, fries, bagels, pretzels (the list goes on & on... eat the street food)

-Watching pick-up basketball games at The Cage

-The Market in Chelsea

-Times Square at night

-Eating at Carmine's

There were so many more but those are the experiences that really stood out to me! Anyways, we had the best time in NY. And OF course, I got some amazing photos. They are on the sight if you want to check them out!
